political scene for over 25 years. Cook earned an
unequaled reputation for government affairs
representation while serving as President of the
Minnesota Retail Merchants Association from 1989
through 1998, after having joined the association in
1983.
Cook is well-known for creating and implementing effective solutions to complex legislative and regulatory challenges. Cook has worked on behalf of trade associations and companies in the areas of health care, business regulation, labor law, civil and criminal law, environment and procurement. She is known for tackling tough government affairs challenges and achieving successful results. Cook has the ability to work throughout the political spectrum to reach consensus on difficult issues. Cook has developed a unique range of relationships over her many years of walking the halls of the Minnesota Legislature, working with the Governor's office, Administrations officials and various other constitutional officers.
Early in her career, Cook was singled out for her effectiveness in Minnesota government affairs. She was chosen in 1997 as one of "21 Most Influential Women in Minnesota" by Minnesota Monthly. Cook was also ranked in a group of "Top Eight Lobbyist", in a poll of legislators by the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Cook has served in numerous leadership roles in both Minnesota and nationally.
